Clinical DirectorOrganization: Street Medicine InstituteLocation: Remote This new senior position will hold oversight responsibility for all clinical dimensions of SMI’s full spectrum of services and will also, in partnership with the Executive Director, provide leadership for developing new programs and services, particularly those with a clinical aspect. The Clinical Director (CD) will frequently independently represent SMI through speaking and consulting engagements. The CD reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors, Program Director, and external partners to accomplish position responsibilities. Given SMI’s small size, the CD must be prepared to perform administrative tasks associated with planning and organizing their work. SMI is a nationwide/global organization working across time zones. The CD position is mainly virtual but will involve an estimated 10-12 travel events per year for attending training programs, consultations, site visits, the annual symposium, and strategic planning meetings. UPMC Street Medicine FellowshipOrganization: UPMC Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA The UPMC Mercy Street Medicine Fellowship is the first of its kind. It is a program of the UPMC Mercy Hospital Department of Internal Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Fellowship was created in collaboration with Pittsburgh Mercy’s Operation Safety Net which serves as the primary arena for the street medicine experience. A particular emphasis of the Fellowship is the interface of care between the unsheltered population and the hospital systems of Pittsburgh. These areas include the Emergency Medicine Department (UPMC Mercy has the highest volume ED in the city), the inpatient street medicine consult service, outpatient referral and care (the Fellow will have a continuity clinic at UPMC Mercy), the Respite Care Center (for homeless patients who require medical recovery) as well as a focus on patient navigation throughout the larger health system of the city. Street Medicine Team RNOrganization: Janian Medical Care Location: New York, New York, USA Due to the success Janian's Street Medicine program has had in providing quality primary care services to people experiencing street homelessness, the Street Medicine Teams were expanded in recent years to twice the number of teams in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The Street Medicine Teams work with people for as long as is necessary with a focus on quality of care provided over quantity of clients served. Each team consists of 1 NP/MD and 1 RN with a Van Coordinator to support operations. The teams work closely with outreach teams who identify and refer medically vulnerable clients.
